I know that tailors can taper/dart shirts to bring in the chest/waist and remove a lot of the excess fabric, but is there anything they can do to get rid of the excess fabric in the arms - maybe reducing the size of the armhole? I am guessing this is impossible but I figured I might as well ask.

I have some too-big shirts that will look better in the body if I get them tapered, but the arms will still be huge, which prevents me from wearing them without throwing a jacket on over them.

The armholes are tricky as there is usually no extra fabric there. Altering it will change the balance of the shirt. But the sleeves can certainly be narrowed.
