Quick question about prose/poetry re: "narrative"

Can the word "narrative" be accurately used to describe the story or plot of a ballad (poem) or is there another term that is more applicable?

Sure. Why not? You can use "narrative" to describe the sequence of events in a comic strip.

I thought so, but I wanted to be sure. My professor is a stickler for this type of thing.
