I'm planning an overnight trip down to the city with the Mrs. and am looking to "live it up" in a luxurious hotel. I'm specifically looking for a suite that has fireplace(s), oversized soaking tub or huge jacuzzi, close to central park and oozes luxury and romance.

Any suggestions?

The only hotel I know of that has fireplaces is the Plaza, and they don't work.

St Regis has fireplaces in some suites but they don't function

Lowell has suites with working fireplaces.

FIreplace aside, MO and Four Seasons seem to be the best best for a splurge night/weekend. Both have spectacular views on the park from higher floors' suites

Possible, I have been to events there but never stayed over. Some of the public rooms have FPs so maybe some of the nicer suites do too.

I heard The Plaza was much better after Fairmont took over. I'll give them a try.

Note that the hotel has a new owner, and it not quite what it was. It is now mostly condos, with a few rooms available as hotel space. I have no idea what the rates are, but prepare for massive sticker shock.

You could also try the Waldorf Towers, some suites there have FPs. Not quite as close to the park, though.
