Wondering if dark jeans are considered off limits under the "night club attire" requisite often listed in advertisements.

I was considering heading out tonight and would prefer wearing dark Jeans( No tears, Rips, threads hanging etc...) I would match dress shoes and dress shirt and jacket. While I would not consider it "dress to impress" curious as to the SF opinions... permissible or a sin?

Thanks, mm

PS its Downtown Chicago area I am thinking of

Add a simple white linen pocket square (TV fold) and you'll be golden...

I've always been a fan of dressing up a nice pair of jeans for going out to clubs or whatever, maybe I'm in the minority but I've never had a problem with it.

No club in Chicago will turn you away for wearing jeans. If I go after work, I have my suit on. If its on a Sat, I stick to dark, well fitted, jeans.
Curious, where are you going?

Not sure yet. Might start out at Sushi Samba... Maybe somewhere afterwards with live music. I have not yet been to Martini Park and know a few that are going tonight.

Cheers,
MM

Perhaps one day I could join you fellas for a night out or beverages after work.

I work in the Loop but currently live in Naperville. Please, spare the groans. I'm a transplant so I get a pass ;-)

I like velvet blazer paired up with right jeans. But it's hard to find decent velvet blazer ...

BTW, I never wear slacks outside of work. Most of my denim is ultra-dark and I don't buy any with distressing or "washes". They go with blazers or button-downs and ties very well.

As long as its a dark wash without any distressing, its usually fine.

You will be fine with jeans in all of those places. MP gets LOUD when the live band is around though, might want to take some ear muffs instead.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
