Question on repairing and washing APC New Standards

Hi All,

Needed some advice on denim, as I’m rather new to the higher end stuff.. I bought a pair of APC New Standards in Paris earlier this year. Been wearing them pretty much daily since April, and haven’t washed them per the instructions. Haven’t even dry-cleaned them (I know, rather gross… but I did give them the freezer treatment a few times).

Now I have some fraying in the crotch, as well as some stitching coming undone in the same area, and so am thinking of sending them in to Denim Therapy for repair.

The problem is that the DT website is telling me that I must wash the jeans before sending in, whereas the APC guys said that I should dry clean only initially.

Is it safe to wash the APCs at this stage, or am I really only limited to dry cleaning?

Any advice would be appreciated!

116 posts and you never noticed we have a huge thread with more APC denim info than anyone would ever actually need?

You can soak them if you're that worried.

I hate to sound all ironic and such, but honestly, just give them a wash guy. Flip them inside out, put a bit of detergent in a bucket and let them soak for a few hours, then refill the bucket with just water, soak for a little longer, and lay flat to dry. They're just jeans, they won't explode.

Wear until the crotch rips and then send them out to be fixed.
