Question for those with water-resistant watches

I am about to take my first plunge into higher end watches and get an Omega Seamaster. Even though it's probably the same one everyone that get Seamasters buys (the James Bond model with the blue face and bezel) I still like it much, much better than anything else in that price range. Question for those who have waterproof/resistant watches... what kind of care do you do on them after being in the ocean or salt water? I will be heading to Florida at the beginning of next year and will probably wear it in the water... is there a certain standard to follow for cleaning it after it's been in the salt water? Or would you recommend not taking it in with me? Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on picking up the Seamaster. You should definitely wear it in the water. I have a Tag Heuer and have worn it while snorkeling and playing in the ocean in both Hawaii and San Diego. I've also worn it in my pool here in Phoenix. After wearing it in salt water, it's very simple to keep the watch clean and remove any salt deposit residue. Just put some liquid dish soap in a bowl with water. Put the watch in the soapy water and use an old toothbrush to clean the links and the watch case. This will remove any film left by the salt water and prevent corrosion. You can also do this every once in a while just to keep your watch looking sharp.

Enjoy your new watch and visit to Florida.
