Hi, all.
I'm having a winter coat made from cashmere fabric.
I'm not sure how to phrase my question, but . . . along where the coat opens beneath the lapel, there is typically fabric folded over into the other side (if you go look inside one of your winter coats, you should see how there is usually a few inches' width of fabric folded over into the inner side of the coat).
My question is, is there a standard amount in inches for how much they fold over before they begin inserting lining like Bemberg/Cupro? I was thinking about getting a couple extra inches of width of cashmere fabric for extra warmth. How do I vocalize that to a tailor, and is there a downside risk to doing this (other than, i assume, the cashmere is going to wear faster than a lining like Bemberg)?
Much thanks!
