I notice that from time to time forum members post pics of themselves wearing denim jeans whether they are bespoke, OTR or thrifted with their sport coats. How many of you press or iron their jeans and put a crease in them?

No, that'd look pretty odd, I think. Jeans and a sport coat's a very obviously smart-casual look - smart up top, casual down below. Ironing a crease in the jeans to make them 'a bit more smart' would be like tearing a hole in the coat on the theory that it made it look 'a bit more casual' :)

Surely no one puts a crease in their jeans? As for ironing, there should be no need if you dry them flat- i.e., flattened from seam to seam.

You all have obviously never met an Italian woman. The moment she starts ironing your underwear you'll understand

Incorrect; if you are a high school football player in Texas circa 1995 you probably iron a crease into your jeans with a serious amount of starch.

Starching and creasing your jeans is actually a pretty traditional western-wear thing, but it's costume for anybody who can't wear a leather vest and a bolo tie un-ironically.

You guys beat me to it. That look is big here in Texas among the shit kickers. It's the stupidest thing I've seen; starched, creased Wranglers with at least five inches of extra length pooled around your ankles. It's the George Straight/Garth Brooks look, drives me nuts.

If you press your jeans, you'll look like a corny old man or like your mom dressed you...period.

Thanks for the opinions. A young guy just out of the Navy I shared a townhouse with (with one other guy) for awhile used to iron his jeans. I was wondering about it since most guys on this forum are very well dressed.

I don't iron my jeans either.
