Hi everyone!

I'm new here and I have a question already.

I'm getting married this December and I live in the Philippines which can be pretty hot even during December. The rites will be at 2:30 pm which can still be hot. The Church is beautiful but not airconditioned.

Now my question is, any tips on how I can make a tuxedo more comfortable in the heat? What type of fabric works best? Someone suggested that I have one made that is unlined or half-lined. Will that work?

Thanks in advance!

hello..
its generally considered "poor taste" (at least in the UK anyways) to wear a dinner jacket /tuxedo and trousers at 2:30 in the afternoon..
i think most SF members would recommend wearing a suit instead..

i recognize you are philippines, so perhaps these rules do not apply (i've never been to the region).

but as far as a tux suitable for hot weather, thats a good question, i have no idea.

agreed. bad taste. before sundown, you should wear morning dress.

go for super 120 weight wool. half-lining will help. depending on your taste, a white dupion silk dinner jacket will be even cooler than wool.

I would just wear the tuxedo, who wants to bring a change of clothes? Then you have to worry about the groomsman wearing their own suits etc. An even worse idea is the morning jacket. Who wants to wear that morning jacket all night and when are you going to wear a morning jacket again.
As far as your heat question I would go Bow Tie and Cummerbund instead or a tie and/or a vest for coolest option. I would also get a tuxedo in a lightweight wool if possible.
Beyond that , you are going to sweat regardless. Its your wedding after all.

agreed... in fact, if you're having something bespoke for your wedding, get a suit made. at least you'll be able to wear it again. and you won't make all your guests have to go out and find dinner suits.
