Was wondering if anyone had purchased one of the GianlucaIsaia suits off of Sierra Trading Post. Are they a good deal at $999? They are advertised as retailing for $2,300. I know this has been discussed here before, but I cannot find the thread(s).

Stu, Here's a prior SF thread on this subject: http://66.170.193.77/cgi-bin....ianluca The STP suits based on their price are the higher line "Gianluca Isaia" not the less expensive "Gianluca" line (the label should read "Gianluca Isaia-Napoli"). The shoulders on my Isaia from this line are roped and have a higher armhole (and more flare to the skirt) than, say, Barbera. To my mind, the jacket is less comfortable. If STP has suits with working buttonholes, be careful with your tailor-my tailor said he had to cut individual buttonholes by hand and he did not do so good a job. I have a super 150s and don't wear the suit often. One reason is that all the high supers seem to wear so poorly. At least for my purchase, the suit ran true to size (i.e., I take a 50E in most Italian goods including Isaia). As to price, I bought mine on EBay several years ago from a seller named "Nitr-o" for about $750-800 (name is Pete Testa). He seems to have a lot of Isaia product. Transaction was satisfactory. And didn't "Sartoriale", who is a member here and also an EBay seller, post recently that he had a lot of Isaia? You might want to check (you might gain in price but you'd give up STP return privileges).

Thanks SS. I was looking at them and they appear to be, from what I read, the second-highest line, as they have basted sleeves. STP I find really reputable, so if they say they retail for $2,300 they probably do.

I, too, have purchased one or two items from Pete @ "Nitr-o" on ebay... never any problems.
