Does anyone know which types of shoes are available with this last?

When I posed this question to the London JL Store a few weeeks ago, the Sandon, a two eyelet derby, was the only shoe being sold directly by John Lobb, London. The Chelmer, an oxford, is also sometimes available via EBay. Another Forum member has recently reported that Bergdorf Goodman had several new models on the 4800 on display at their most recent JL trunk show. Perhaps you should call Bergdorf or the NY John Lobb store to get the latest information.

Thanks for your information, but i am afraid it's not possible for me to call them. I'm living alone in an appartment as a scholar, and my only phone is a cellular. International numbers are blocked by my father because he is paying my account. I'm living in the Netherlands by the way.

Andrew - that was me. There were at least three 4800 models on the JL trunk show table at BG last week end. Not sure if that represented the whole offering or just a segment... Also, I'm not sure whether the trunk show is till going on or not...

Did I mention that I was really disappointed with the 4800 last when saw it in person?

I thought it was you G, I just couldn't remember for sure. You're killing me on this last, is it the snubbed toe that puts you off?

The angles !! the toe shape is way too angular. It's not too obvious on your suede shoes but the angles are shocking on normal calf shoes. Not the subtle 888 angles... I didn't realize that until I took the shoe in my hand... The last is very un-JL to me...

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
