Question about collar size

My normal collar size is 15.5. I found a great deal for a shirt I wanted however the only size available is 16.5. I plan on wearing this shirt with the sleeves rolled up and collar unbuttoned without a tie all the time. Will the extra inch make the shirt look weird in the neck area or am I good to go w/ the 16.5? Thanks!

I normally wear a 14.5" collar and I have a few shirts in medium that are 15.5". There is no realy noticeable difference unbuttoned.

Sounds like a bad idea, unless the body measurements of this two-sizes-too-big shirt somehow match those of a 15.5 shirt. If that is the case, for some reason, I suppose it doesn't matter that you'd never be able to button the top button and/or wear a tie with the shirt.

Oh, so a bigger collar size also relates to bigger body measurements too sometimes?

Yes, it will likely be too big in the shoulders, and possibly the chest too. Try it on first.

Not sometimes: always (relative to shirts with a smaller collar in the same line from the same manufacturer).

It's more than just the collar, the whole shirt will be too big for you. Chest, arms, yoke, even the cuffs.
