I have read that for buttoning a double-breasted suits, generally, you fasten every button except the bottom.

Would this rule apply the same with (trechcoat-ish) double breasted coat?

Depends on how windy and how cold it is. When it's windy, I fasten all of them

in 6x2... wouldn't that only be one button? What do you mean by "every button?"

+1. On a DB, leaving the last button undone is optional, rather than compulsory. Especially if it's an overcoat.

Only if it's extremely cold, I'd button everything.
