I purchased a pair of AE Strands. The tongue on the left shoe is stitched to the side of the shoe but the tongue on the right shoe is not stitched. Are they both supposed to be stitched or is the left shoe an error?

Thanks,

It would be common for both tongues to feature this stitching on a pair of balmorals. Not all makes do this. As I understand, it is to prevent the tongue from sliding out of position whilst wearing the shoes. Personally I don't care for the feature but to each his own preference.

On my Strands the tongue of each shoe is stitched to the upper. The stitching point on each is very small, though, and down near the base of the tongue. Is it possible that the stitching on your right shoe has split open?

Good Call...After looking a little closer you are correct, the stitching has come loose. It was a little hard to see since it was stitched over the stitching around the edge of the tongue. I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks guys,

If you've bought them recently and you're willing to take them to an AE store, I'm sure they would fix them up at no cost. Even if it's been a while, I have a feeling they'll fix stitching problems at any time.
