Quebec City: how warm will tweed keep me?

Hi all,

Heading to QC on Wednesday for business. I have a down coat and plenty of casual winter gear to keep me warm. However, want to wear my tweed jacket to dress up a bit for meetings (company is not super formal).
Will I be warm enough in: moleskin trousers, sweater, tweed jacket, scarf, gloves?
I don’t have an overcoat at the moment and it’s rather hard to procure one on such short notice.
Constructive thoughts sought and appreciated.
Thank you!

No.

I would not suggest this is sufficient for anything under freezing, which Quebec City frequently does.

The sweater will help, especially if it is a nice, thick wool one, but no, you'll still be cold.

You'll need an overcoat if you don't want to freeze your balls off.

Forecast is for high of 40 low of 33...no overcoat required

If you go anywhere in Quebec this time of year and dress only in jacket and trousers, you will be cold. You will also need a warm toque that will likely not match your outfit, so you might as well wear the casual stuff.

You will not be comfortable in a tweed jacket. The locals will be wearing coats, hats, gloves, scarves and boots. The temperature is often below freezing at this time of year, particularly at night. Wind chill will make it feel colder. There are a few inches of snow on the ground right now. Forecast for Wednesday is lots of rain, near the freezing point.

OP should wear the tweed jacket into the Quebecois popsicle because going against what slovenly locals are doing and putting yourself somewhere between physical discomfort and mild danger in the name of our collective vanity and romanticizing of a bygone era that never actually existed is practically an SF rite of passage. It'll make for a good story, if he lives.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Yep, I figured as much. My down coat/parka fits over the blazer as well as it fits over anything else, except the jacket sticking out underneath slightly. Will it look a little odd? Sure, but I’ll be warm. I’ll take looking a little odd for the maximum of 20mins at a time that I’ll be outside over freezing my balls off.

Haha as much as I’d like to take one for the team I don’t think this will be the time 😂

You'll be fine. No one is going to critique you for having a practical winter coat when it's balls ass cold out.
