Was thinking about purchasing the Noble shoes in Tan for my wardrobe and not really sure about the general quality of the shoes. Take in mind the best shoe in my collection is Park Aves.

Also, maybe the Philip shoe in Tan. Thanks for your input.

**Tried searching forum for thread, but could not locate. Sorry if this has been discussed to death.**

I have three shoes from the Rose collection and I find them very well-made and beautiful. Definitely a step up from AE.

Think their Masterpieces were right beneath EGs

The Noble is a decent shoe - good for summer it's lightweight. However I wouldn't consider it a high quality purchase. It's nowhere near Masterpeice standards infact as part of the Rushden collection, it's the lowest price shoe Grenson offer.

It is GoodYear Welted but it in terms of leather quality & construction is second to the much better Rose collection shoes. Despite this it is still a good starter shoe given it's price point.

Hope that helps.

Thank you all kindly for your responses. It helps me get educated in clothing.

Just curious, is Haberdasher in Chicago the only U.S. store that sells Grensons? Anyone know of other retailers?

Just trying to add a pair or two of daily shoes and just don't have the funds for Aldens right now.

Paul Stuart, but they are priced above Alden for the most part. I have 3 pairs of Grensons and 3 pairs of C&Js and fine them roughly equal in terms of quality, with the Grensons ahead at the Masterpiece level.

Ah gotcha. I didn't really factor in currency conversion and it will be priced, like you said, in Alden territory. Shoot.

Grenson specifically make a v. high quality line for Paul Stuart this is reflected in the pricing. EG may be making shoes for Paul Stuart too/now in this regard as I understand it.

I seriously doubt that the Grenson Noble shoes, from the Rushden collection, could come close in terms of quality to any C&Js

I have not purchased from the Rushden so I cannot speak to that line. I have 2 Masterpieces and 1 Rose.

The Masterpiece line was much loved here at SF and considered to be of very high quality certainly above C&J benchgrade and IMHO as good as Handgrade - some have said better.

The Rose collection aims to compete with C&J benchgrade some models do a decent job coming close at times whilst others like Elland and Kempton are certainly deficient in the overall finish of the shoe and choice of leather.

The Rushden Collection is the cheapest and whilst offering honest value and some interesting lasts IMHO it's OK as an introductory model - it is what it is, for how much it is.

Sorry to hi-jack this old thread but It didn't really seem necessary to make a whole new thread about the same question.

Looking to get some Grensons myself, specifically had my eye on Grenson Finn. It seems the consensus is that the Rose collection or the old Materpiece range are the way to go, but they are slightly out of my price point. I've read that half of the production for the cheaper ranges are done in India, and thus the quality is very poor. Wonder if this applies for Grenson Finns aswell? And how poor exactly are we talking in terms of quality (bearing in mind i've only opted for cheap mall leather shoes so far).

I would ignore their current collection and look out for some alternatives that are of better quality (Loake 1880 series, Herring Classic II)
