I want to buy some quality boots f/la chica this XMas, but I have absolutely no idea what companies are well-thought of in the world of women's boots...shoes yes, but boots are kind of a different ballgame.

J. Crew had some nice models but again, I know nothing. Suggestions?

Hmm. Ferragamo could be good. Gucci is probably pushing the bank.

Does Chanel do boots? I thought it was mainly purses...

I don't have actual examples to tell you. However, if times on your side you could do a bit of lurking on a women's fashion forum and see what they buzz about/ what they wear in outfits.

When it comes to women's shoes it's pretty weird compared to guys - there are no "classic" old school brands, it really is all about the famous fashion houses.

I was looking with my girl for some quality boots too actually. Trust me, we looked around a great deal but she has a hard time with boots since she has tiny feet and smaller calves and it seems most woman's boots have calves made for well...the "hefty" ladies or those with field hockey calves.

Of the bunch she tried on, the J Crew ones (seemed to have nice quality leather and made in Italy) and some Michael Kors boots were the best in the bunch. Coach did have boots, but too many overdone designs on those and many of the others.

I hear Frye's talked a lot with the ladies, but those are too western for my girls tastes.

Depends on what your lady is into. I just bought my gf some Frye Paige Tall Riding Boots in the gray color. She loves them.

They're a tiny bit darker than the picture and look great on her. You can get them on endless, piperlime, or zappos. She gets compliments every time she wears them.

if your girl has skinny calves you will have a tough time finding boots that fit

Went to oc with my girl awhile back and she found some dope topshop cognac colored boots that fit her perfectly, looked similar to classic chloe boots and were 140 at half off. She's got small feet and slender calves and they looked fantasmic on her.

How much do you really want to spend is the question.

If you are willing to spend some money (you know, if you really love her), then the best option might be Crockett & Jones. THey have a small women's line and they have at least one or two boots. These are not over the calf boots, but more like the height of an average men's boot. They will last a long time, look great, and fit wonderfully. I think there might be a C&J store in New York. I have been looking for the same thing, and there is a lot of really expensive poorly made garbage out there.
