    Hi All,

A friend of mine is getting married this summer and he's put me in charge of finding something for us to wear.

Right now I'm looking for colour combinations to suit (no pun intended) and will find items that will suit our price point later.

The women are wearing something like this but champagne/burgundy rather than silver/pewter

I was thinking of navy suits. Preferably something light weight, perhaps linen.
Shirts - white herringbone, french cuff
Ties - Looking for some differentiation between groom and groomsmen. Probably going to go knit silk or grenadine.
    - Groom -> Champagne
    - Groomsmen -> Burgundy w/ gold dots, or plain burgundy

Pocket squares -> something not matchy but again differentiating between the groom and groomsmen.

What about a medium grey POW? The groom just bought a charcoal suit, but feels it isn't up to wedding standards.

    Any ideas?

    I appreciate your help.

You're not going to find a lot of love here for matching the men's ties to the women's dresses, but I'm guessing the bride-to-be will insist. What time of day is the wedding? What kind of venue?

Forget the idea of wearing the same outfit entirely. Tell everyone to wear their best fitting navy suit with a white dress shirt. Get a variety of wedding ties and grenadines to hand out for neckwear. Black shoes and belt. White linen pocket squares. Done.

+2, with the grenadine a silver. Though charcoal suits are good too.

If you wanted to be strict about it, the most formal lounge suit would be charcoal, and the most formal four-in-hand tie a black and white small shepherd's check, like the one at kentwang.com.

    P. S., easiest way for the groom to elegantly stand out would be a double breasted or a three-piece.

Thank you gentlemen, I'll get some feedback and see where we go from here.

    Any more suggestions?

I got married recently and my wife tried to strong arm me into wearing something that matched all the girls (pink). Stick to your guns.
Let the best men wear a good navy suit and perhaps a similar tie colour. The groom should wear what ever the hell he wants.

I am about to get married and I am not going to win that battle. My fiancee wants me in a champagne tie and the groomsmen in a mute pink tie. We are all wearing navy suits. I tried to add some color to my suit but she doesn't want me competing with her dress! Lol

Im not sure that would have helped. I did send the groom the StyFo 101 article though. Seemed to be right inline with what he was already thinking.
