I've recently been handed down a pair of shoes from my father that have a great deal of mileage on them. I'm a huge fan of the uppers (way stiching comes together and details along the vamp and quarter), however they are the worst kind of square toe.
Rather than toss them or shove them in the bottom of the closet I was wondering if anyone's had any experience recrafting shoes like this (bulky square toes) into a different last (even a chisel tip would suffice). Would someone like bnelson be able to handle this or is this a job for a bespoke maker (please say the former)?
