We're very proud of this one, which is the last episode of our second season. When Milan was chosen as one of our cities, we felt like we couldn't leave without doing something about the way that the fashion megaconglomerates have changed everything there over the past twenty years or so.

I typically enjoy all your videos and think you run a great site, but this final video was a bit dull and discombobulating. I understand the general theme you were shooting for, but the constant back-and-forth between interviewees, most of whom spoke in fluffy generalities, made for a somewhat generic take on the subject.

Would have loved it if you had spent more time speaking with the various bespoke makers in Milan.

Appreciate that thought, Eustace. I think we would have liked to have spoken to more folks, but our budget afforded us about one day of shooting time to work on that piece - and no one in Italy is every on time for anything, as far as I can tell. We considered using title cards or voiceover to make it a little more thesis-driven, but decided to leave it a little looser and let the viewer draw their own conclusions.

This book, Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster was in no small part the inspiration for our big piece in this episode. We tried to get at what happens when luxury industries become commodities... particularly what's lost.
