For the average guy, nay.

It works in certain situations, like the above....I even like this guy's use of 'purple'

the color of the pants in the picture that you linked to is lavender, which is even more gay than purple

I would vote yes to first purple pants pic, but no to his scarf. Why is he wearing a woman's scarf?

I would vote no to the purple pants in the second pic.

It just depends on the pants.

If it's going to be purple, I say keep it dark purple.

The first pair is amazing, and it doesn't look as offensive as one would have expected a pair of purple trousers to look. Both the hue and the texture help.

The second seems to try too hard. But even that colour might work as part of a summer outfit. Perhaps with a navy knit polo shirt.

Anyone have any idea which cloth weaver/merchant may offer a similar cloth to the first one? It seems to be some kind of worsted flannel. I'd definitely have a pair made.
