Chinese pimps wear lots of black. Usually black on black on black. With silver jewelry. Gucci is generally the label of choice, with Versace and Dolce & Gabbana distance runners up. Sunglasses at night are not uncommon - Dior, Prada or Gucci. There is a very intricate hierarchy of pimps, pimp-daddies, bishops, etc... Often, they settle scores by way of kungfu matches, often in nightclubs. Just last week, there was a big commotion when Dong Lon Wang walked with his entourage into a very famous Hong Kong nightspot that belonged to Hung Re Low without showing proper deference. I'm sure a lot of hoes in Dong's stable were slapped up that night, since he and his men were soundly beaten and thrown out of the club, and lost a lot of face.

LOL

gotta love the face-losing.

i just had a thought - what if Yao Ming were also a pimp?

I love the Purple Label stuff, but no one said it's perfect. Avoid this suit at all costs unless you are really british and really wear an ascot.

A bold suit is good for shorter guys who are trying to stand out.

Keep in mind Ralph Lauren is really short (like 5'3"-5'4"??) and a lot of his clothes are more decorative for that reason. Notice you never see him pictured in his own ads standing next to someone, always by himself.

now you're just making me laugh. let's just leave television, movies etc... out of the discussion.
I should have said documentry, but the points still the same. Watch a couple I'm sure you'll see some hispanic Pimps dressed in that manner

I didn't say they were soley about Hispanic Pimps, But Pimps Up, Ho's Down has some I think and there's one by the Hughes Brothers. They aren't very good but you'll see some non-blacks dressed in the manner you refered to.

My understanding is that an Italian house, Corneliani, is now making Polo suits.

You people crack me up. Â Good to see that people obsessed with the finer points of menswear can have a sense of humor... but insightful intellectual debates on race and class aside... Why DO a lot of tall athletes wear really long jackets? Â Is it some misguided notion that because of their height or long legs they have to wear long suitcoats to maintain the proper visual balance? Â I ask because though I'd never be mistaken for a pro athlete, I am tall with long legs (in OTR, depending on the manufacturer/fit I usually wear a 39R), and whenever I walk into a menswear store to browse for a suit or sportscoat the salesmen (regardless of race Â

) invariably try to put me in a size that's too long and just plain too BIG for me ("You need this size, because you're tall and have long arms...").  I always overrule their judgement because I think a longer suitcoat looks sloppy.

Leo Jay - I have the same problem. I'm 6'1 and wear a 44, sales people are always trying to put me in a 46L or bigger, yet because of a relatively short torso and long legs I'm really a 44S in most cases. A longer jacket just emphasises my shorter arms and torso and makes me look stumpy. The proportion is much better for me with the shorter jacket - I don't look unbalanced.
