Looking for suggestions for a purple gingham shirt coupled w/ navy suit. Ideas? Pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Solid black or solid gray grenadine. Solid blue would also work, but is more predictable and dull.

Can't imagine any tie that would look good with this. If the gingham is lighter than purple (lilac?), then maybe a dark purple or navy tie. I would personally keep a purple gingham shirt for a no-tie look

Here is a picture of the shirt. No picture of the suit; however, navy isn't hard to imagine.

Should this shirt be matched which a charcoal suit instead? If so, which tie for that combo?

Purple and charcoal gray is a killer combo. I would go with a charcoat suit than blue suit.

That's neither purple, nor gingham. When you said purple gingham I thought of a shirt in this fabric, which I have from Jantzen. Now this is purple gingham.

Not sure, would that be a graph check? When I think gingham, I think of the shirts below. Actually, I have a purple gingham purple label shirt also that I wore the other day, but took it to the cleaners. Will post a pic when I get it back with the tie I wore with it. Wore it with a charcoal suit, but imagine it could look good with khaki also.

I agree. I pictured this: http://harvieandhudson.com/product-view.phtml?id=1239 which I would have no trouble putting a red tie on. The shirt Micbain posted is a little washed out and more lilac like and could either take color such as a strong pink, purple, red, royal blue etc or even a navy. I would actually avoid greys and black solids. That's just my impression. A lot of it depends on where you are, what you're wearing the tie both with and for but I am thinking business in a big city, America or Western Europe. If you were wearing this for social I might wear a mustard or golden colored tie with some color in it...like purple.

Yeah, I'm not sure that qualifies as a gingham check.

This, on the other hand, is a purple gingham shirt:

I was hoping the thread would be about a shirt like this one, because I have one just like it.

LOL @ Me. Sorry gents for the wrong description; however, my problem of which tie to wear with this shirt remains.
