It seems like a waste, but those packs of pumpkin cutting tools you can buy at Target and the like really are better than anything in your kitchen.

Buy candles with more than 1 whick. Pumpkins look best a tad wilted, so carve it in advance.

I posted this previously for Pumpkin Boy. Mrs. Piob's efforts last year. She was rushed as this is a "simple" one for her:

I kinda wish I could do up a pumpkin version of Miro's Dog barking at the Moon. May be tricky, and no one would probably get it, but there it is.

In lieu of that, I would try sculping Duchamp's Fountain, out of pumpkin.

I'd bet it would almost look like Nosu3, actually.

Some attempts from the previous year. Mine was Darth Vader...Mrs. Bright did the ghost pumpkin, which by the way, was a ***** to carve...three inch rind and very difficult to hollow out. They look cool at the pumpkin patch but I recommend keeping away from them.

I'd like to try and do the translucent thing more but I just feel like I don't have the tools, skill, or vision to do something photo worthy.

You mean single-minded and predictable? Yes, I suppose it would.

I'm tempted to try a Death Star pumpkin, but don't think many would recognize it.

I'm sure that if you cut a hole in the top and stick a sign on it that says "Insert your spaceship here" it would get quite a bit of attention.
