Pulled muscle in the foot? (foot pain please help)

I have a very painful right foot.

When I walk on the right side of the foot (the outside edge), it's ok. When I walk on the heel of it, it's ok. But when I walk normally, there's a pretty sharp pain in the meatier part in the middle of my sole, a few inches from heel. What is this? It feels like a strained muscle or something. It's not just regular sore feet from walking a lot. Any experience with this?

I've had it, and for me, it happened to be an injured tendon. I never had to have surgery, so it wasn't actually torn, but it was pulled or strained or something.

Definitely go to a doctor.

Soak your foot in some cold water and massage the bottom of your foot. I'd see a doctor if it continues. I have Plantar Fasciitis, it runs in the family. Best thing to do, is stretch out your foot and wear inserts in your shoes. High arch supports work for me.

Roll the sore part over a tennis ball and get arch supports. Some people need orthotics.

Warm water/epsom salt soaks in the morning to get loosened up and icing in the evening to calm it down. You MUST stretch your calves - it seems unrelated, but stretching out your calves takes the strain off the bottom of your foot.

Thanks everyone very much. I really appreciate your advice. I'm stretching out the calves, and went to a Spa this morning to have it worked on by quite the impressive young lady.

a golf ball may be more effective, but you have to be careful not to irritate it more.

Sorry pal, that really sucks. Pick up some tiger balm from the pharmacy or health food store. Do you know how you pulled it? or is one of those body-is-getting-older-mystery-injuries?

Don't mess around with your dogs.
Go see a doc (podiatrist) asap.

If it was from just walking around, I would definitely agree with hard2fit and see a podiatrist. My friend has bad feet and I feel for him as he's in pain regularly. He let it go on for a long time before he saw the doc and now I feel the damage is permanent.

Plantar Fascitis. (spelling?)

I have it as well. I have a high flexible arch. With the exception of my dress shoes which are designed specifically for this malady, I wear over the counter inserts in all of my footwear.

If you need some reccomendations on the best inserts, give a holler. Don't waste your time with the Dr. Scholl's garbage - waste of time and $.

If you have the means, see a podiatrist. This issue usually doesn't just go away. It'll be with you to some degree for the rest of your life. If you wear the right shoes/ and inserts it's a non issue.
