Looking for recommendations on the following hotels for those who have been. These are the three I have narrowed it down to based on reviews / my price point. (looking to spend no more than $500 for 3 nights total)

A. Conrad San Juan (Will save me some money)
B. La Concha
C. El San Juan

Thanks

What about the Caribe Hilton? I highly recommend it.

that's where I stay, I like it and like the location.

actually, if I remember correctly the conrad is on the same grounds, so that isn't a bad thing. the meat resteraunt in the conrad is pretty good, also.

Pick a hotel in Isla Verde, Like the San Juan, Ritz-Carlton, etc. Here is why. The ones downtown, while there are good restaurants, can infuriate you with traffic and parking. And lousy beach. Isla Verde hotels are newer, mostly, and there are some good eats in that parts. Better beach.

Not sure if you are going for business, but the Isla Verde hotels win hands-down if you are a business traveler that needs to organize something extraordinary, lean on a concierge, etc.

I'm going for pleasure but only staying 3 days.

Out of the listed I believe only el san juan is at isla verde, but the taxi fare to old san juan will be around $25 each way.

Has anyone had experiences at La Conventa?

It has the highest ratings out of the other hotels in San Juan but its more of an "old puerto rico" feel rather than a resort.

Yeah la Conventa is awesome. I would highly recommend against the Conrad, I stayed there a couple months back. Don't know what was supposed to make that a Conrad, but I would mortgage grandma's house that it isn't up to brand standards.

La Conventa is totally sweet (haven't seen the rooms product, but the lobby, bars, restaurant and location are all great. Whoever recommended the Ritz is marsupialed...what a terrible location for everything. That is unless you like the blast of jets taking off and landing and ghettoness within walking distance in basically every direction.

Timely thread. I have to go to PR on business to a office tower known as American International Plaza, which looks to be at the corner of PR-1/PR-23 (Rivera/Roosevelt). I'd like to be reasonably convenient to that building but still have a nice hotel with casino and, hopefully, beach. Not sure that is possible but for those who know PR taxis and traffic patterns, can you make a recommendation?
Thanks

Stayed at the El San Juan last year for a few days on the way to Virgin Gorda.

It is a DUMP and a shadow of the great hotel it once was. The rooms are filthy and falling apart. Avoid at all costs.

The Ritz-Carlton is beautiful.
