Does anyone have a suggestion for a resoling service in the NYC area? What do people do with their Crockett and Jones shoes when they need some TLC (back to the parent company I assume)? How should I got about contacting the company if the shoes I own have been licensed under Ralph Lauren?

You can send the shoes back for repairs to C&J, regardless of the name on the label. Probably 2/3 of C&J output is under someone else's name and not C&J. You'll have to decide, whether or not the shoes are worth the added costs of shipping to and fro.

E-mail them about the costs and include all the production numbers (just to make sure, they are really made by C&J).

Here's an email I received from C&J regarding resoling:

"Thankyou for your e-mail, these stores may have a better idea:  You will find our shoes at Barney's in New York.

Other companies we currently manufacture shoes for are: Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers (Peal & Co label), Ben Silver, Carroll & Co and British Sporting Goods.

We offer a repair service with two options.

We can send them back to the factory where they will rebuild and reshape the shoes on the original last as new. This procedure takes 10-12 weeks and costs £80 plus postage.

We also have a local shoemaker who does longsoles and heels
for our shoes and takes 7-10 days at a cost of £60 plus postage.

You may e-mail, fax or phone your credit card details to our Royal Exchange store.

If you have any further queries do not hesitate to contact me on telephone 020 7929 2111, fax 020 7929 0110 or e-mail.

    Kind Regards

    Hope this helps...

I second RIDER's recommendation. Have used them for impossible cleaning jobs now three times and am quite satisfied.

Cleaning jobs?  on shoes?  Could you elaborate?  I'm just curious because I've several pairs of shoes that could use some work.
