PSA: Saks and Neiman Marcus

Saks Friends and Family October 16th - October 19th, in the past the discount is usually set at 20%, but the past spring, the Friends and Family discount was set at 25%. I am betting the discount will stay at 25% this time around.

Neiman Marcus Private Sale: No date has been set yet, but the sales associates in BH believe it will take place the first week of November.

Some advice on shopping: Stick with "Basic Items" that normally don't go on sale at the end of the season. In Ralph Lauren world, it is called BSR. You don't want to buy a coat or leather jacket at these events, 3 months later, you see the same jacket at the clearance rack for 60% - 70% off.

I brought Edward Green Chelsea, Dover and Berkeley at the Saks's F&F. I brought my Loro Piana Horsey Jacket at Neiman's private sale. This time around, I might purchase some John Lobb shoes at Neiman. All these are stable items these stores carry throughout the year.

Do I need to befriend a Saks SA? I have my eye on a jacket there I'd love to save some bucks on.

Any item in the store including sale item (if you can find any). But F&F has its usual exclusion: LV, Kiton, Loro Piana...

Was at Saks in NYC today. They have 30% off on a number of things. Nothing too spectacular, but some Polo suits and trousers, Corneliani suits and sportcoats, Incotex, some decent ties and a few shoes (mostly not so great, though there were some Tramezzas that were marked down).

The SAs said the sale runs through Sunday.
