Again, I fail to see the value. Seems like $600 of that is for the name alone.

Not sure what you mean by this? Is the workmanship, quality of leather not up to JL standard?

I generally don't mind paying for the workmanship but not for that much and not for a loafer.

Workmanship is waaaay overrated here, can anyone explain why it is important and at what level the additional return ends of tend toward zero?
