Popped into Daffy's on 57th (east side) and saw a rack of of single pleat and flat front slacks in navy, dark grey, light grey wools, and also a few linens. Priced at $39.99, the retail price was listed as $350-550 - - the only info on the daffy's tag said samples. There were no tags anywhere on the slacks.

They were pretty basic, seemed like decent pants but nothing special. I tried a few on but nothing worked for me.

Could be a good deal or not, Daffy's may have just written in any retail price if they're all samples.

They did not look like mabitex. The insides were not similar, no split band and like I said, absolutely no tags inside these pants. But they looked nice to me (although I'm no tailor) - they reminded me of Oxxford actually. Light, summer weight slacks.

Of course, someone will chime in shortly and say they look like absolutely garbage . . . but they looked nice to me!

edit - there were tons of mabitex, at least 4-5 racks. Mostly cotton chinos by the look of it.

I think I got one of what you are talking about last week from that store, charcoal flat front. Not as slim as the Mabitex, and the only tag left inside was one that had material (100% virgin wool, which feels great) and care information. There was a tag on the outside which said something Sartoriale in the emblem, but no brand information. Not as slim as Mabitex and a bit higher rise, but seems nice enough. Not as nice as the light grey Mabitex Elite I managed to snag last week though...
