1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

For fans of Bill Amberg's leather goods, it appears that there are some stellar deals on Yoox now for a few men's leather bags, if you like the styles.

I have somewhat limited experience with Amberg, but what I have seen or had was very nice and quite pricey.

Well, I did a bit of searching and it turns out... typical for Yoox... the Amberg items aren't 100% accurately described.

These are actually Globe-Trotter soft-luggage pieces designed in collaboration with Bill Amberg, called the "Phantom" line and was introduced a year or two back.

Retail prices appear to be in the $650-900 range, so the Yoox prices are still quite good. Nevertheless, for some reason Yoox appears unable to describe things accurately... so just keep this in mind if you decide to snag these.

It's technically Globetrotter, not Amberg... (as such, I've edited the original post)

what do you think of this?

I like that one; I was considering getting one for myself, but didn't just because I've got too many bags as it is.

Nevertheless, if you need a decent messenger/shoulder bag, I'd say it would be well worth it.

    I ordered this one: http://www.yoox.com/item/YOOX/BILL+A...T/sts/sr_men80

It's only 135 € on the German Yoox site, so that's pretty good I guess. I also ordered a Filson from Crane's last Sunday, and I'm sure I'll like at least one of those two. Hopefully both, of course.

I thought about getting that travel bag, too - too bad it doesn't come with a shoulder strap!

OP - where did you see that these are Globe Trotter bags designed by Amberg? I'd like to read the article if you could find it.

    Thanks.
