Protect the toe of driving shoes

I have a problem with the way I put wear on driving shoes and certain loafers. Normally, I can buff and polish out the wear, but they eventually wear through the toe above the sole. This does not happen on full sole shoes, but only on rubber partial soles like drivers.

I just bought a ridiculous pair of Camouflage Prada drivers and already have a scuff on the toe above the sole. There is no real way to color these back and I do not want to prematurely wear the toe out.

Does anyone have any strategy for dealing with this, (other than changing the way I walk) I feel like I could put a clear protectant on the leather.

Install bicycle tire patches inside your shoes above the toes. You can trim the patches for a proper fit and replace as needed.

You can try wearing camouflage socks and maybe folks won't notice the socks bursting out of the shoes?

I have no clue ho you are doing such a thing and fail to understand your problem. It is very likely something you are doing and nothing to do with the shoes so illustrate the issue please.

I actually had a similar problem with my last pair of driving shoes that I wore all the time.
It might just be a function of that type of shoe?

You might try buying shoes that are made for walking in, rather then sitting pushing on a pedal. If that doesn't work for you, you could even try a shoe made for hiking, walking dirt paths, running, playing basketball or some other activity that involves having your body weight on your feet. I'd stay away from driving shoes, cycling shoes, aqua socks, flippers and ice skates as your main walking shoes.

Therein lies your problem.

step up and buy better shoes. Prada shoes are middle of the road. Nobody is impressed anymore because they are dime a dozen.

^ Wow, what a dick comment. How do you feel about people with Rockports? He could have a million reasons for getting the shoes he got, it doesn't have to be "to impress people with their Prada-ness". In fact, these are probably the nicest pair of drivers you can get with a camo print (which is really ugly I think, but to each his own).

I've got a pair of John Lobb driving shoes, and the outside heels started to wear badly in 2 days from simply the position I sit in my car. It may just be the way you walk; do your normal dress shoes wear more in the front?

Driving shoes, the light weight, unconstructed, nub soled, are just really delicate so it's a losing battle unfortunately.

I have the same issue with certain loafers; did you ever find a solution? It's frustrating that the toe of certain shoes wear out faster than the shoe itself.

YES, I just scuffed the toe of my $200 Coach mocs. There is a product called shoe goo ($5) - they sell it everywhere- its for rebuilding treads on sneakers and repairs. But it is clear and your can put a little in the area and seal and protect. its great for handbags and leather gluing.
