Well damn, I think they nailed it first try, I'm shocked. The collar roll on soft ivy is absolutely perfect, and I love the wider placket I went for.

I haven't washed the shirt yet, but based on how I expect it to shrink and the comments ITT, it should be good.

The "heavy oxford" is really nice and I can actually see myself wearing it 3 seasons. I was expecting it to be really thick and heavy and only a winter shirt.
Welcome to the easily converted. I think once you’ve received a PC shirt you’re hooked for life.

And the soft ivy is an absolute killer, I know.

Thinking of making a hybrid western-button down shirt for casual wear in black.

Not sure which to go for from these. The pure black linen would have more texture, is cheaper, but wouldn't retain as much shape for the pockets I think.

The cotton-linen oxford has a more matte texture, is more expensive, but theoretically would retain the shape better for pocketing.

You’re assessment sounds right. The cotton linen holds its shape rather well while wrinkling just enough. FWIW the Portu blends are some of my favorite fabrics. I wear the the light blue to the office as it wears more like an oxford than a linen. Can’t comment on the pure linen fabric you linked.

Get the blend if you’re after a shirt that can theoretically take an ass kicking. The blends plays as more of an oxford. I like the Baird, but that sucker wrinkles hard and fast.

Bit of a long shot, but did anyone else get the new soft roma button down collar? If so, what's your thoughts on it?

Still on the fence about trying the collar; I’m very skinny but occasionally I wish my Ivy BD was longer. If anyone else has the Roma BD, curious to see more pics.

I recently made up the silk/wool from the formalwear section into one hell of a great casual jacket. The cloth has so much character. Also paired with the pencil stripe sea island cotton shirt in Roma spread collar, grenadine tie, and pocket square.

Rebuilding basic casual wardrobe and adding on to it. I can grab 4 shirts for under $600 CAD for my budget. Open to suggestions and comments about your own experiences regarding these fabrics, or replacing them with something else. I do know I've gotten some about the slub chambray, baird, and heavy oxford.

✔️ That university stripe is the same workhorse as the whole heavy oxford line. I love it, and it will last forever.

I’m curious about the seersucker, too. I’ve had the fatigue green version in my wish list for months.

The light indigo chambray is really nice and might become a favorite. I've found it to shrink a bit more than expected, especially in width, so maybe check to see if others have had this experience and size accordingly. I only wash in cold / hang to dry.

The Portuguese seersucker is nice summer fabric that gets compliments. I don't wear it very often because it's so light it seems like it won't wear well. But it's definitely quality stuff.

The Baird linens are great. They're not super light, which I appreciate. It helps keep them opaque, and gives them a nice drape, and extends the seasons you can wear them. I have the navy, and it's an especially deep, 3-dimensional color. Typical slubbiness / rumpledness.

No experience with any of the oxfords.
