I hate to ask what may sound like a clueless question, but I'm hoping you all could shed a little light for me. For dress shirts, how do you decide where your shoulder ends and your arm begins? I'm trying to wrap my head around how the shoulder measurement interplays with the chest measurement (and perhaps the bicep and armhole choice as well). I feel like my preference is for a more narrow shoulder measurement, which just feels a bit cleaner to me, I suppose, but I don't know how much I can shave off there without making for an uncomfortable fit.

This doesn't completely answer your question, but for me it's really determined by lack of pulling between the shoulders / collar / buttons when the shirt is buttoned all the way up. For me this is actually 1/4" wider than my casual shirt shoulders.

Itdepends on already having the shoulder slope and neck-forward position nailed. At this width, the seams land on the outside edge of the "corner" between the top and sides of the shoulder, in both kinds of shirt. I know this is a bit vague, because that's usually a pretty rounded area. Buttoning the top button pulls the shoulder seams in a bit.

Quick shot of the new Baird McNutt Irish linen in Olive. It feels ever so slightly thicker than, say, the linens from Uniqlo, so that's a good thing. For those thinking of getting this, do note that it has a mild yellow undertone to my eye -- more warm than cool in terms of colour temperature.

This has been washed once, but the sleeves are still a bit longer than my others despite no change in sizing. Hopefully this would sort itself out a few more washes later.

I've paired this with the Soft Milano collar. It's their biggest unfused collar, but it really doesn't feel oversized at all. Granted I have a slightly longer neck, but I'm far from a big and tall guy. Highly recommend this collar.

@Seph Just putting my vote in for a light-to-medium grey in this Baird McNutt range. Also, really appreciate you guys revising the shipping rates such that PC is back to being a viable option for me

My Baird McNutt linen shirt isn't itchy at all. It's pretty soft, and the fabric has a nice amount of body while still being airy. I also have PC shirts in linen from Thomas Mason and Di Sondrio. The Di Sondrio glenn plaid might be my favorite of all PC fabrics. Really amazing stuff. Full-bodied, with a 3-dimensional texture (and visual texture). None of these fabrics is the least bit scratchy, even when new. The Baird McNutt and Di Sondrio fabrics have a bit of rustic coarseness ... they're not at all silky. But it's a soft coarseness, if that makes any sense.

Any "Hidden" options you can request like longer points on the Ivy collar?

How about wash/dry before cutting?

Found it a couple days ago, still not sure how I feel about it. For me, the points may be too long, and the roll itself looks quite voluminous and stiff. I'm about a 38R so that collar may engulf me completely.

Has it settled down since then?
