it would look odd if I now sit in the lecture theatre wearing a new hoodie.
Hey, I have gone to university wearing just two hoodie this year. One's a university branded hoodie and the other's Gio Goi. Problem is it's still chilly (here in London) and my Gio Goi hoodie has worn out. So even though I have the money to afford as many as clothes I want, it would look odd if I now sit in the lecture theatre wearing a new hoodie. I usually sit in the front row and I'm not sure if I should wear the university-branded hoodie or wear my new hoodie.
Why the hell would wearing a new hoodie look odd?

That's because it shows I just got some money, so I bought myself a new hoodie. But I always had money. It's a question of self-worth.
People at your University are really that poor? Most of the students I know blow all their student loans on clothes and **** anyway, getting a single new item of clothing is hardly something that anyone would notice unless you're going to Uni in some third-world country. It's not like hoodies even cost that much...
