I took three pair of Ralph Lauren jeans ( one pair is RRL)in to get hemmed. One was the perfect length, two were long and would either drag the ground or have to be cuffed. I told them what I wanted done with the two long pair. They made notes and stuck them on the jeans. I went to pick them up today and all three were cut 2 inches so short you can see my socks! They said i would have to file a claim (insurance claim I guess). I called Ralph Lauren with stock numbers and then called a RRL boutique to get a retail dollar amount. Has anyone ever filed a claim with a tailor? What should I expect? Thanks

Nope. I have a competent tailor.
Did they mark the jeans with chalk when you "told them what you wanted?"

i kind of see this as you perhaps didnt communicate to them well enough what you wanted.

Tailors either mark with chalk or pin the clothing item to be tailored at the length it is desired. That way the client sees what it will look like. The only way to do that is to try on the clothes for the tailor. I've never seen someone give verbal instructions without putting the clothes on as well and allowing the tailor to chalk/pin the clothes.

Your jeans gotta hit the ground when your measured without shoes on or they'll be too short.

I have had tailors pin and get them back way too short. Luckily on pants that can still be let down. Some "tailors" are amazing at how ****** they are.

I actually give "verbal" instructions on my jeans to my tailor. But I have been going to him since my high school days! On pants, I ALWAYS try with a pair of dress shoes on.
