Print-quality movie stills?

Does anyone know a way to grab a screen capture from a movie in high enough resolution for printing?

I'm sure I can find a way to grab something out of a Blu-Ray but even then the resolution is not going to be really up to print quality. Maybe that will just have to do. Are there services that do this?

My company's products have ended up in a handful of movies and I'd love to print them for "private" use just to hang on the walls here at the office. That may not pass full sniff with the copyright folks, I guess. I presume theaters get some higher resolution level than Blu-Ray; too bad I can't afford such a copy.

A screen grab from Blu-Ray probably isn't going to cut it. Blu-Ray resolution is only 1920x1080. You may be able to eke out the equivalent of a 4x6 or 5x7 print out in decent quality, but certainly nothing larger.

Don't even think of using a regular DVD screen capture..

Yeah, that's pretty much what I have concluded; I wondered if there were services that did this, perhaps pulling from the theater-quality resolution, or film. Admittedly I know little about how high theater resolution goes.

I don't know, you can probably get away with 200 ppi for the application so you might be able to print 10-12" or so, which will look large in a matted frame, especially if you have multiple prints. How big do you want it? The bigger issue will be the quality of the video transfer and the shot in question.

Would be inexpensive to try. Nobody is going to touch this without being licensed.

Nobody's going to do that, certainly not without the permission of Hollywood.

Would have to get hold of the original prints, or at least a 4K copy.
