Here I am in Dallas-- having a truly wonderful time. I'm convinced that the Mansion on Turtle Creek is the best hotel I've ever stayed in, possibly the best in the USA. Not to mention that I got in at an absolutely killer rate, posted on the website (I think it was weekend rate).
First off, the hotel is as close to perfection as I can imagine-- superior service, attentive staff, hand-signed notes in your room/ slipped under the door for events, cake with silver knife awaiting you upon arrival, huge opulent rooms, bathroom amenities made expressly for the hotel and stored in large glass containers with heavy glass stoppers. Neat.
Needed a cigar last night after lobster tacos served up by Dan Fearing's staff-- no problem, the hotel sedan (a very sleek black mercedes) took me to a great cigar store, and whisked me back to the hotel again. All complimentary, of course.
Gotta run, but the NM sale yesterday was worth the stay here as well-- endless racks of sale items, although not yet HUGE markdowns they were pretty good. And will probably get marked down again in January, so make the trip for a weekend..
Off to the galleria and Stanley Korshak.
