The devil probably would bespoke a pair of velvet EG slippers with his family crest.

Yeah, I think we've talked about this photo a few times. Apparently, the pope gets many items given to him. In any case, I doubt he dropped over by the boutiques to pick up a pair.

He probably wore them on that one occasion and then the soles fell off, so he probably hasn't worn them since.

While we are on the subject any thoughts upon Prada Suits? I was looking at some here in town and thought the fabric was strange, almost cheap feeling. I looked at the tags and it was a 80/20 wool/polyester blend?

Any futher ideas about a red taged suit that I saw in a shop aswell? This was at a smaller store while the bigger deals seem to all have a black label inside.

I believe that the Vatican actually commissioned one famous designer or luxury clothing company to make a lot of the official clothing for the Pope, the cardinals, etc. I believe to recall that it was actually Valentino, but it may have been Prada or some other company, I am not sure. I remember that there were quite a few "progressive" Catholics that were actually upset by the fact that the Vatican chose a famous luxury brand company for providing the clothing.

Pre 2002 or so, the mainline Prada suits were made by Belvest and were very nice (overpriced, yes, but fully canvassed and a great fit). Recently, they switched to another maker and they're mostly fused.

As for the red tags, that usually connotes the Prada Sport line. I've never seen a Prada suit from this line, but if the suit was brand new, it is possibly from the new "Linea Rossa" line, which replaces Prada sport. This one has unbelievably bad quality. The sneakers that used to be made in Italy are now often made in Vietnam and look so ****** if I hadn't seen them at Saks fifth ave. I would have sworn they were fakes.

Right well that would explain it because there would be no way I would dare to play the ask that the shops want. Truth be know I think I would pass at $30 as I bet Sears does a better job then what I saw there. I really was more shocked at the polyester then anything else...makes me think of disco.

I know that polyester is almost a 4 letter word around these parts, but in and of itself, just the fact that a fabric has a small percentage of polyester in it shouldn't be the deal-breaker. I've got a Hugo Boss suit made with lovely Columbo wool and cashmere fabric and the construction outside of fabric is really ******...

I mentionned this in another thread, but my tailor in montreal did a bespoke suit for a representative of the vatican to a country i won't name to avoid specifics. It was white shantung with a purple silk half-lining and a mao collar with a purple stripe going through. He was a big man that obviously eats very well on the vatican expense account. I should have been a cardinal. ;p
