I have taken an interest in Prada men's suits, especially her tela bi-stretch fabric. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion about Prada tailoring that would be helpful in making a decision about going with this designer or another.

Use the search option. While I personally like the Prada suit shape, the workmanship is definitely subpar to many more trasdtional makers. It depends on your priorities and needs.

BTW, My favorite *designer* suits are by Costume National and Helmut Lang.

Although the styling of Prada irks me (just plain ugly and boring for me) I must admit that the quality surpassed my expectations. I have a black Prada Jacket that is fully canvassed with working button holes. The material is excellent and the cut sharp. The buttons are covered with the same material as the jacket's fabric. Quite nice actually. The only Prada suit I owned was also pretty well made (compared to, say, Giorgio Armani) but certainly not worth the $$$ (I later sold it on eBay). In the designer stakes, still prefer the cuts and quality of Gianni Versace and Gucci to Prada and Armani and Dolce. If I had Nick Cave's waspish figure, I would probably go d-homme too (for the aesthetics). But I'm happily esconced with that V-shaped muscular torso profile.

I just bought a suit by Prada. I don't buy many suits, I spend a lot of time doing research, falling in and out of love with many things before I pull the trigger. This suit is 96% virgin wool, 4% "stretch," fully canvassed construction (despite what many have said), and fits me perfectly off the rack. Thanks for all the pointers made by those on this forum. It helped me to make an informed decision about whether to go with this suit or buy elsewhere. I don't know if all of Prada's suits are made as well as this one, but this one sure looks pretty well-made, looks pretty damned cool.
