I am looking into buying a nice leather jacket from Prada or D&G, but I can't decide what to buy. I have my choice down to two jackets.

Prada :

D&G :

I'm leaning towards the d&g leather jacket. I think the prada once is very nice but rather overpriced. Money is not the issue for me. Which one looks better?

Not a fan of either, but the D&G looks a little less douchy.

I sincerely hope that if you are in the market to spend $3000 on a jacket, you'd go to a store and try one on. Prada and D&G are major brand names, but beyond that, are very different in fit and stylistics. As well, depending on item/season and whoever they used to make the jacket that season, not all are created equal.

If you like major brands, others that you might want to try would be Valentino (less "fashiony," slightly more romantic and a little more "luxe" feel), YSL Rive Gauche (kitschy, relaxed, but beautiful), or even Gucci, Jil Sander, etc.

Again, any of them might be fine, but go to a store and try one on and familiarize yourself with the styles/leathers/finishes/etc. If you are in the market for a $3500 leather jacket, then you can afford a trip to a large sized city and series of boutiques to find the one you want. If you can't/don't want to, you might ask yourself if at 20 a $3500 jacket is really the best purchase you might make. The Zegna jacket does less for me even than the D&G and the Prada. The styling looks rather plain and frumpy to me... for that kind of money, I want to look so good traffic will stop when I walk by. Keep in mind that D&G and DOlce and Gabbana aren't the same thing, either. I'm assuming you know that, but really, you might want to be searching the forums here for better leather jackets at better deals. Just because it costs $3500 and says PRADA on it doesn't mean you are getting the best jacket ever made. There are lots of guys around here who can easily buy a $3500 jacket (and have!) and I bet not one of them is PRada or D&G, unless they got it on sale.

I'm assuming the link i posted to the jacket on rafaello network is dolce and gabbana because It says so. I look on other websites like neiman marcus or bergdorf goodman and they do not offer this same jacket, and I wonder why.

But anyway, I would like your honest opinion on which jacket you think looks better, the prada or D&G? I know they're different, and that is why i'm asking.

Stylistically I like the D&G over the Prada given the choices for a young man.

The pic of the tag, however, says D&G. As well, the price is around $1400, which is in line with D&G, but not Dolce & Gabbana. Quality of Dolce & Gabbana isn't bad, but D&G tends to be pretty substandard for the retail. I guess I like the D&G better, overall, but again I really hope you aren't planning on buying a jacket online, especially from Raffaello Network, which tends to make up its own prices and also offers jackets from past seasons at regular prices (which is perhaps why you don't see this jacket on the other sites... ). Do your homework instead of throwing your money away on the first website or two you find in an internet search. Anyway, I've said my piece, take away from it what you will. Good luck!

Where can I find a Mens Valentino leather jacket? I looked online for a retailer but could not find any.

The D&G looks much better than Prada....generally speaking I think D&G (and mainline Dolce) make some great looking (and fitting) leather jackets.

The only thing I would have preferred on the D&G is a zip front rather than button up. I'm of the traditional camp that a leather jacket needs to be zipped up

Ugh, that Prada jacket looks like that puffy jacket Missy Elliot wore in "the rain".

+ a lot

leather jackets are almost impossible to buy online, at least correctly. Like jeans, they can all fit differently but they need to fit really well. Tight without being a straitjacket. and you cant tailor it so you have to make sure it's all within the size you want (length, sleeves etc)

There's nothing worse than a leather jacket that blatantly doesnt fit just right.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
