I have a cousin in his middle 20's ... and as many men in their middle 20's ... he knows everything about everything … and I mean EVERYTHING. He just drives me up the wall.

Recently a large portion of our family was together ... at one point this young cousin began to exhibit his knowledge -- or lack thereof -- about fine menswear. He's of the opinion that Prada is at the top of the heap. Go figure.

In another room someone was watching CNN ... and Anderson Cooper was on. The cousin noted ... "Look there ... I know Prada when I see it."

While I can spot an Anderson & Sheppard at ten paces with one eye tied behind my back ... I couldn't begin to tell what little Anderson Cooper was wearing.

Does anyone know -- or have the ability to recognize and willingness to share -- what Mr. Cooper wears? Has he a commitment to one tailor or … uhhh … designer ... or does he shop around?

I would also be helpful to know who makes Prada suits. I admit … I haven’t been in a Prada in years.

I'm curious ... as I'll be forced to see this young cousin again in the near future … and … and … I need some ammunition. Help me have some fun … fork over what you know.

And Whnay ... no Cooper Collar comments ... please.

Of course, if he wears Rubinacci ... tell more.

[snark]a beard [/snark]

No idea if he wears Prada... Prada appears to do whatever it can to cut costs and keep prices high, sometimes at the expense of quality. I have read here some years ago that Belvest made their tailored clothing, but I have no idea if this is still the case and/or if Prada has several levels of quality and subcontractors.

I've also heard that Cantarelli makes their entry level.

But ... I want to try to have all my ducks in a row ... even if little cousin is all bluff. I know it's tacky of me to want to "burst his bubble" ... but it could be such fun ... especially given his "know-it-all" attitude.

I'll add that one person has noted that Cooper wears RLPL ... having been a model for RL ... but this I haven't confirmed.

I believe someone on the boards was in RL and saw Cooper getting fitted/measured for a PL suit.

RJ is right about Prada outsourcing to save money; they are probably the worst offenders around for doing this.

Anyway, last time I checked (around springtime), Cantarelli still made the lower priced/entry level stuff and Belvest still made the top-end stuff.

BTW... RSS... I remember reading an interview with Isaac Mizrahi where the interviewer was trying to imitate Mizrahi's style... (I know!) Apparently Mizrahi was an A&S bespoke client, but as the interviewer didn't have time or means to visit A&S... Mizrahi took him to Prada, which he said had a similar cut (!!!!!)...

Just need to do a quick Google search... here, they mention he has PL and a Prada, and this talks about him wearing PL at an interview, and this mentions him wearing Black Label.

Thank you mmkn.

I don't read The Sartorialist ... and this is confirmation that I don't need to.

yeah, they still holds true for their suiting.

Prada Sport is being made in more and more obscure Asian and Eastern European countries every year and the prices keep on going up. Yay.
