YES! Time for the US Armed forces to get their 'Quake' on... Suit up in your exoskeletal armor, fire up your railgun, go party. Oh, and yes, they are talking ship-mounted, but can a handheld really be that far away? Lets hope not!

Well 357 mags ARE women guns... especially if they have a full sized barrel on em. Bah, wussies!

Neato. But eight friggen' MJ!. And they want a 64 MJ variant? The warp core comment is not out of line. Tokyo, my favorite .357 has a 15", vented, heavy barrel. Super accurate, but you have to rest your arm after every shot. Weighs a TON. ~ Huntsman

1.21 Gigawatts!!! I'm sure in 1985 plutonium is available at every corner drugstore, but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by.

Heh. I get the point, but energy is a tricky thing.

I had a Prof who couldn't say Volts, so he always said Wolts, and on an exam he even wrote Wolts, which made me laugh, probably too obviously for an exam. Later, when asked why by a colleague, I mentioned the Wolts and said it reminded me of 'Keptin, we have found the nuclear wessel.' He didn't get it. Nobody did. Star Trek is not exactly my thing, so I sorta underrstand, but come on...

A handheld railgun doesn't really make sense.
