Start looking for a new job just in case I guess. People don't usually make firing decision lightly so there's it's pointless to try to talk your way out of it.

I was thinking of moving on anyway (i've been with them for almost 6 years) I just didn't want to have to do it now.

Not to cast doubt on your performance as a sales person, but for a manager to fire their 2nd best (per the numbers) sales person sounds like she's very much willing to cut off her nose to spite her face.

Since you already mentioned wanting to move on, assume that the rest of the team doesn't pick up the slack and next quarter she has to explain to her boss the lowered sales figures. Sure, she can wave her hands about a "bad economy" but if anyone above her has a brain they'd see that she fired #2 and not #3 through #9.

If you decide to stay in your industry, and go work for a competitor, you can try and have your accounts assigned to your most inept colleague and let your clients know that this inept colleague will be handling them forthwith. Hopefully your clients will, on their own accord of course, realize the poor service they will get with your colleague and will, completely on their own, contact you at your new employ.
