Hi,
I'm 5'10", with a 42 waist sort of chubby complexion and 64. My eternal problem has been a mismatch between my waste line and the standard pants. If I buy a 42 the rest is baggy and if under 42 it's tight. Same thing with my shirt, I'm (or was) 16-34, but as of today my abdomen is quite protruding so a normal shirt (regular) is too tight and if I buy a 17 or so it's huge, but maybe ok in the abdomen. Worsening things, nobody has the same shirt dimensions, classic, regular etc.
Any advise, where can I get a 16 or so with an extended loose fit at the belly?
Due to this mismatch, I usually wear polos.
Thanks

I know your struggle. I have very large thighs and seat from my past as an athlete and from cycling. Also now overweight in the midsection from eating so much prime beef and Wagyu strip steaks and ribeyes.

What type of shirt? I think the classic fit (or whatever it is called now) from Brooks Brothers might fit. I’m 5’10” 250 with a 40 waist, and I exclusively wear Brooks Brothers original polo button-downs, 17.5/37, in one of the slimmer cuts (Regent i think it’s called). I’m not slim by any means.

For pants, I wear mostly cotton. My favorite off-the-rack is the Relaxed Fit Chino size 40/30 from Ralph Lauren (currently out of stock in bigger sizes). For trousers/jackets/suits, I get them made-to-measure.

Brooks Brothers Traditional Fit dress shirts have a fairly voluminous fit. I’d suggest trying them out.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
