This is for the bowtie wearers out there, my son is preparing for a debate at school. Bowties v.s. necties, i'm trying to help him come up with a list of all the reasons why bowties are simply better than neckties. We have 6 now and I wanted to get some imput from you guys, I know with your help we could easily come up with a nice list of reasons.

You won't get it caught in the moving parts of a machine that could potentially chop your face off.

Also, a lot hard to spill food on.

I'd like to know your 6.

Assuming it's not a clip-on, they show that you know how to tie one, which is rare.

They are cheaper than neckties when you can find them.

You may get free KFC if circumstances favor this.

People will call you "Professor" which may be better than the names you normally get called.

If you are a talking head on TV, you will gain unwarranted notoriety and Google PageRank score by wearing one.

My 6 are the intrigue that comes from people when they leard you can tie one, hard to spill food on, women flock to straighten them, take up less space in the closet, won't get caught in the paper shreader, and lastly make you look smarter. That's as far as I could get and then I ran out of ideas, if you have some that are diffrent let me know.

Buying them keeps the great American bowtie business alive?

Way easier to pull off in an exaggerated gesture that says "look out, I'm getting undressed!"

Lends a rakish air to the wearer when casually untied at the end of the party/wedding/Oscars.

Wearer can get away with colors normally reserved for lunatics and trad types.

If your son will be sporting a bow-tie at this debate, he might end his tirade by noting that he is committing the ultimate act of defiance by not "fitting in".

Take that you black-jeans wearing spiky-hair punk-rock wannabe's!
