'You have to edit to five pair (RTW) - and only five pair- what stays?'
Andrew's answer:

John Lobb Jermyn II in dark brown
Edward Green Dover in heather gorse
Edward Green Malvern in dark oak
Edward Green Chelsea in black
Edward Green Banbury in mink suede

my five:

Work

- Black EG Chelsea for Fosters on 88 last.
- Black EG Chelsea for Wildsmith on 88 last.
- Black EG Chelsea for Wildsmith on 88 last.

Non-work

- Brown EG Malvern for Fosters on 88 last.
- Brown EG Malvern for Fosters on 88 last.

I am weeping at the idea of losing the rest.

I can see, if not a Oneshoe (tm), a Twoshoe theme emerging. The Chelsea (3 black, 1 brown) and the Malvern (3 black, 2 brown) are the only shoes I own more than one identical pair of.

I'm not a big timer, and have no experience with EG, Lobb, G&G, etc. And I'm not a fan of loafers or monk straps, so this affects my list. Suits: Carmina black quarter brogue oxford on Simpson last C&J brown Audley oxford Casual: C&J suede Belgrave Alden Cordovan NST cigar shell Alden navy blue suede plain toe blucher It was hard to pick the last slot, it was mostly a tie between the Aldens, my C&J snuff suede chukkas, and my Carmina dark brown suede oxfords. But there's more overlap between the last two and the suede Belgraves. I like all of those better than my NSTs - love suede shoes - but I use the NSTs in inclement weather. recent acquisitions like the C&J black Aintrees are more niche shoes. Funny how SF warps you brain. A couple of years ago having TWO pairs of nice shoes would have seemed more than enough. Now five pair seems like nothing...

I read somewhere the Dover is his fav shoe of all time. Hard to argue with - balance, gravitas, machismo, elegance. In the same interview he mentioned he had worked a casual job in a shop selling EGs ... and I got obsessed just seeing pics!. Heather Gorse is mebe super-rare, I can't find any pics at all.

What are the odds on 4/5 ? we agree less is more then? The Onslow in cordo is an underrated classic IMO, one of C&J's best

John Lobb Vale in chestnut museum on 7000 John Lobb Becketts in black on 7000 Edward Green Chelsea in chestnut on 202 John Lobb Luffield in dark brown on 8695 Edward Green Banbury in mink suede on 606
