Does anyone have a recommendation for a bespoke tailor in the area of portland oregon. Someone who is aware of the principles outlined in Dressing the Man. There are several advertised but I've grown wary of overly effervescent reviews in portland -- probably something to do with the younger demographic.

You live in a beautiful part of the country but not a great place for bespoke tailoring. My experience in the Northwest is that people who can afford bespoke wear polar fleece, and people who can’t (waiters) wear ties.

You may need to plan some trips to San Francisco (I hear the train ride is nice), where there are both local tailors and the occasional visiting European trunk shows.

Have you looked into Michael Allen's? I've never had anything made there, but have picked up some nice jackets and trousers over the years, and it sounds like the majority of their biz is actually custom tailoring.

Yeah, that is a nice place, hard to walk out without getting something.

I was considering either Wildwood and Company or Kash Ross Creations in Portland.

Sorry I can't offer any insight to either. Hope you find something that will work for you.

Did you even end up commissioning anything from the Portland area? I'm new to the area and also looking for some true bespoke options.

Reactivating this thread with a variation… anyone know of an alterations tailor in portland with a solid understanding of tailoring? I bought some new trousers from the Armoury and need to get them tapered and hemmed

The tailor I have gone to for years is named Mike, and he used to work out of the back of Colllier Clothier. He was really good. I think they have moved, though, and I have not had anything altered in the last few years, so I do not know if he moved along with them or not. They might be able to put you in touch with him though.
