What's with the blood type RH, nationality, birth date, etc. information on the back of the watch?

IIRC, when these were first sold, Seiko offered custom engraving on the caseback with your identifying information, you know in case you got lost in a desert or while scaling Kilimanjaro so that rescuers could give you a transfusion in the field or identify your body.

I wonder how many people actually took them up on that?

First my Amphibia breaks, and then same thing happens to my new SNK803. At least I'm within the return period on the Seiko. It's not like I live an active lifestyle, maybe I just beat my meat too hard. Perhaps I should give up and get a quartz movement.

I found a source for the now-discontinued blue dial Scurfa with the salmon pips...I'm tempted.

Missed out on this during the first release but was able to pick up one during the limited restock. I switched the original black strap for a color 8 cordovan. Not much of a watch person but this is something I truly love.

What're your guys thoughts on the Timex Q Reissue?
I think it’s way overpriced at $180. You can pick up a SKX007 or 013 for a few bucks more. I like Timex but they’re pushing the envelope with pricing on some of their stock recently.

I really like it - so much, that it's the only new release I've seriously considered getting (and that includes watches that would go in the other thread). I don't agree that it's overpriced either, but I guess that largely depends on your criteria for choosing a watch: For me, aesthetics is the primary focus and I have a hard time finding anything that appeals to me at this price point (or even 10 times this), which is why I have no problem with what they're charging. I don't mind that it's a quartz either.

I probably won't be getting it though, as I have a couple of watches that pretty much cover my needs, so this one wouldn't be getting much wrist time - but I do think it's an unusually successful design for a new release.

It quickly sold out when first introduced, but I got a mail about a week ago that they're back in stock.

I want this one so bad, but only for sale in Japan apparently :(

I really like that one too. It’s already sold out according to TicToc but I couldn’t figure out if it’s a limited edition or if they’re going to release a non-TicToc version as well.

I already have an explorer and alpinist and I WANT this! Take note other companies! Good design is that simple!
