I love the second one you posted. Maybe it's just me, but the first Armand looks like a dress watch trying to be a sports watch. The big "TACHYMETER" looks out of place on what is a fairly elegant looking watch.

I say this as the owner of a Daytona and admirer of Speedmasters but the addition of a tachymeter is surely one of the most pointless features on a watch eh? I mean I like chronographs even though the nearest I’ve been to a race track is playing scalextric but very rarely ever use the sub dials. How often does one find oneself needing to measure the speed of fast moving vehicles?

Do you mean a 16mm wide watchband with an expandable length?

Yes, these certainly do exist, but only in metal (i.e. Speidel; Timex stretch; Hadley-Roma expansion; Esslinger; etc.). I always found those expandable bracelets so awful; always grabbing wrist hairs, not very comfortable, odd-feeling...but, to each their own: many people do in fact love them.

Vintage Accutron tuning fork for me today, and most of the past few weeks. My father-in-law bought this for his dad a couple decades ago (he cannot remember when but thinks early ‘80s) and it had been sitting in a box of stuff unworn since he died 20+ years ago. So he gave it to me at Christmas. I’m usually not a fan of yellow gold but this one has softened a bit over the years so it’s not too bright and it’s the perfect size for me for under a shirt cuff.

The crystal feels like acrylic but I don’t know for sure. There aren’t many scratches in it though (or anywhere on the watch) so I don’t think it was worn too much before my wife’s grandpa died.

I wore a Victorinox chronograph with a tachometer for years when Inwas in the Marine Corps and I would use the sun dials and tachometer when we were on landing crafts or AAVs or hovercrafts going from ship to shore to measure how fast (or god awful slow) the different boats were moving or how quickly we were approaching the shore. That said, it’s not like I needed to do this as part of my job - I wasn’t a “Red Patcher” or piloting the crafts. It was just the only time I could ever actually find a real world use for the functions.

Of course, we also had GPS and radios and satellites so it’s not like we needed the functions on the watch to complete our missions.
